WWE NXT’s Tony D’Angelo cast in season two of ‘Wild Cards’ on The CW
Tony D’Angelo has landed an acting role.
Variety reports that the current NXT North American Champion has been cast in Season 2 of Wild Cards. He’ll play the role of “Jaws,” who is described as a “commanding criminal mastermind.”
The show airs on The CW in the United States, the same network that airs WWE NXT on Tuesday nights. It is co-produced by the CBC in Canada and stars Vanessa Morgan, Jason Priestley, and Giacomo Gianniotti. Martin Sheen will also have a key role in season two.
The second season will premiere on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, on the CBC in Canada and on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, on The CW in the United States.
D’Angelo is credited under his WWE name on the show rather than his real name, Joseph Ariola.
“WWE champion D’Angelo will play Jaws, a formidable and commanding criminal mastermind,” wrote Ethan Shanfeld.
Earlier this year, Shawn Michaels expressed concern that someone from Hollywood might steal D’Angelo away from NXT due to his acting ability. During an interview with Busted Open Radio, Michaels said, “I’ve got to be honest, things that worry me about Tony D’Angelo is somebody from Hollywood giving him a call and losing him to play the next mob boss because he does such a fantastic job.”
D’Angelo defeated Ethan Page to retain the North American title on last week’s episode of NXT. He also participated in an NXT house show this weekend in Orlando, as the D’Angelo Family defeated Gallus in a six-man tag.
