WWE NXT’s Wendy Choo returns for first match in nearly a year

On Tuesday night, WWE NXT’s Wendy Choo wrestled her first match in nearly a year.

Choo didn’t appear on Tuesday’s NXT episode but worked a match that was part of the NXT Level Up tapings. She defeated Wren Sinclair.

NXT Level Up airs on Peacock at 10 p.m. Eastern time on Fridays.

This was Choo’s first time wrestling since May 2023, when she teamed with Kelani Jordan to defeat Elektra Lopez & Lola Vice on an NXT Level Up episode.

An injury had kept Choo out of action since then. During her return match last night, Choo was wearing a knee brace. Playing off her sleepy comedy character, Choo joked that she had just woken up from a “long ass nap.”

The 32-year-old Choo (real name Karen Yu) has been signed with WWE since joining the Performance Center in February 2019. She previously wrestled in ROH and on the indies as Karen Q.

Before the switch to her current gimmick, Choo played the character Mei Ying in NXT and was a member of the faction Tian Sha.

Choo appeared on television with the rest of the NXT roster at the Performance Center during the 2024 WWE Draft. She was not among the NXT wrestlers called up to Raw or SmackDown.
