Zaria wins WWE NXT Women’s North American Championship
A new Women’s North American Champion has been crowned.
Zaria defeated Tatum Paxley on Tuesday to win the title for the first time. Zaria hit the F5 on Paxley outside of the ring, connected with a spear, then pinned Paxley with another F5 to win the title for the first time.
Zaria’s quest for the North American title
Commentary pointed out that Zaria had been looking to win the title dating back to last year’s Stand & Deliver, when she failed to win the ladder match for the vacant North American title while tag team partner Sol Ruca won. The two continued to tease dissention for the next year until Zaria finally turned against Ruca. The two culminated their feud in a last person standing match earlier this year, with Zaria pushing Ruca off a platform into a table to emerge victorious.
Since then, Zaria had been targeting Paxley and the North American title. After jumping Lizzie Rain following their match last week, Paxley intervened and told Zaria if she wanted a title match that badly, she would give one to her next week.
