Arrest made in shooting deaths of independent wrestler and his mother

An arrest has been made in a shooting that led to the deaths of an independent wrestler and his mother.

ABC 7 reports that a 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a shooting that led to the death of Evan Simonds, an independent wrestler based in California who wrestled under the name Lars Luger, and his mother Lori Simonds. The person has not been identified as he has not been arraigned.

The shooting was reported Wednesday in Pleasanton and an arrest was made the following day after the suspect was identified and was pulled over. Investigators ended up finding multiple firearms in his vehicle and at his home. It was also determined that he had been in a recent relationship with a family member of the victims.

“This outcome is the result of our detectives working nonstop on this case,” Police Chief Tracy Avelar said in a statement. “We appreciate the patience of our community as we worked through a rapidly evolving investigation, and I’m proud of the work done to keep the community safe.”

A GoFundMe has been launched to help Simond’s sister.
