Report: Matt Riddle no-showed charity event, hasn’t returned deposit

Matt Riddle reportedly missed a charity pro wrestling event he was scheduled for and has not returned the deposit he was paid.

According to a report from Cultaholic, Riddle was scheduled to wrestle Simon Miller at Global Wrestling Kingdom: A New Kingdom Rises in Barnsley, England on Sunday, August 31, 2025. However, the promotion says Riddle never traveled to the UK for the show. He was featured on posters and advertising for the event, which was raising money in support of survivors of domestic abuse and homeless veterans.

Cultaholic reports that Riddle had expressed concerns about his flight to the UK and his hotel arrangements, and told the company he had accepted another booking for that day but hoped to work both shows. He reportedly never opened further emails from Global Wrestling Kingdom afterward.

“Sources close to the situation have revealed to Cultaholic that Riddle was booked for the Global Wrestling Kingdom event through his manager several months ago, but Riddle recently expressed concerns about his flight, claiming it was cheap, and his unhappiness about being in a hotel room in Barnsley for two days,” wrote Cultaholic’s Aidan Gibbons.

Riddle ended up wrestling for Boca Raton Championship Wrestling in Florida on Sunday. He is one-half of the tag team champions in the promotion alongside Stallion Rogers, and they defeated the team of Lakay and Lincoln. Moose, Steve Maclin, Ash By Elegance, Ricky Morton, James Ellsworth, and more were also on the show. Riddle was not advertised ahead of time for the event.

In January, PWInsider reported that Riddle canceled a booking with Memphis Championship Wrestling on the day of the show after having attended Nick Hogan’s wedding the night before. Riddle was also reportedly backstage at Real American Freestyle’s event in Cleveland on Saturday and expressed interest in possibly competing for RAF.
