Rare disease forces Millie McKenzie to ‘completely’ cut back wrestling schedule

A rare liver disease is forcing UK indie star Millie McKenzie to “completely” cut back her wrestling schedule.

The 25-year-old McKenzie posted on September 10 that she had been in the hospital for more than a week due to her liver. She shared a new update today informing fans that she is now out of the hospital, but her disease has progressed “much faster than expected” — which means she will need to take a step back from wrestling until her liver hopefully stabilizes. McKenzie said that, with her disease, she will need a liver transplant at some point.

“Thank you everyone for the kind words. I am now out of hospital,” she wrote. “For those that don’t know, I’ve lived with a rare form of liver disease all my life. Unfortunately it’s progressed much faster than expected meaning I will continue to deteriorate until I receive a liver transplant.

“Because of this I have to completely cut back my wrestling schedule. Hopefully my liver will stabilise, which might allow to me continue wrestling in some form. I have to be extremely careful to not to push myself too much at the moment, while I’m trying to build my strength back up. This is not a decision I’ve made lightly, i wish things were different. I’ve wrestled since I was 14, it’s been my life. Hopefully I will see you all at a show soon.”

McKenzie was formerly with WWE as part of the NXT UK brand, where she went by the name “Emilia McKenzie.” She wrestles on the UK indies for promotions like Pro Wrestling EVE.

A tag match featuring McKenzie was set to take place at EVE’s show in London on October 3.

At the end of August, McKenzie had a social media interaction with AEW star Mercedes Mone after Mone took notice of her collection of indie title belts.
