It’s a new month, and August 1 continues the trend of having a boat load of pro wrestling title changes. According to wrestlingdata.com, there have been around 230 major/notable title changes on this day historically.
Some of the bigger changes include Harley Race winning the NWA United National Heavyweight Title in 1982, Volador Jr. winning the NWA Historic Welterweight Title in 2014, Kylie Rae winning the WWE Women’s ID Title in 2025 and MJF winning the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Title in the same year.

1975-1983
The earliest August 1st entries are from 1975, when Dominic DeNucci and Pat Barrett won the WWWF World Tag Team Titles and the NWA North American Tag Team Titles (Los Angeles and Japan Version) were vacated. Mr. Wrestling #2 and Tony Atlas won the NWA World Tag Team Titles (Mid-Atlantic Version) in 1977. Harley Race won the NWA United National Heavyweight Title in 1982. Giant Baba and Jumbo Tsuruta won the NWA International Tag Team Titles in 1983.
1990-1994
Atlantis won the NWA World Middleweight Title in 1990. Cien Caras, Máscara Año Dos Mil, and Universo Dos Mil won the Mexican National Trios Titles in 1991. Espectrito won the IWC World Minis Title in 1994.
2004-2017
In 2004, Fabi Apache and Gran Apache won the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Titles and El Zorro won the Mexican National Heavyweight Title. Volador Jr. won the NWA Historic Welterweight Title in 2014. The AJPW World Tag Team Titles were vacated in 2017.
2021-2025
Seiki Yoshioka and Yuya Susumu won the GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Titles in 2021. Three titles changed hands in 2025: Kylie Rae won the WWE Women’s ID Title, Cappuccino Jones won the WWE ID Title, and MJF won the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Title.
