Title Changes On This Day in Wrestling (July 25th)

Sasha Banks WWE RAW Championship 2016

July 25th has been another pretty busy day in the history of pro wrestling title changes, with wrestlingdata.com reporting that there have been 233 notable/major title changes on this date historically.

WWF Fully Loaded 1999 had three changes on that card, with Jeff Jarrett winning the Intercontinental Championship, D’Lo Brown winning the European Championship, Bradshaw & Faarooq winning the WWF Tag Team Titles and Big Boss Man won the WWF Hardcore Title.

1953-1997

The earliest July 25th entry is from 1953, when Blue Demon won the NWA World Welterweight Title. Canelo Casas won the Mexican National Welterweight Title in 1990. Apolo Dantés won the NWA World Light Heavyweight Title in 1992. In 1997, El Torero won the Mexican National Welterweight Title and Gary Albright and Steve Williams won the AJPW World Tag Team Titles.

1999

As I’ve already mentioned, Big Boss Man won the WWF Hardcore Title. Jeff Jarrett won the WWF Intercontinental Title. D’Lo Brown won the WWF European Title. Bradshaw and Faarooq won the WWF Tag Team Titles on this day in 1999.

2011

2011 was a weird one, with Rey Mysterio winning the WWE Championship, then losing it to John Cena. CM Punk would then appear and technically we had two WWE Champions at the same time.

2013-2017

The Mexican National Lightweight Title was vacated in 2013. Sasha Banks won the WWE Women’s Title in 2016. In 2017, El Cuatrero, El Forastero, and Sansón won the Mexican National Trios Titles and AJ Styles won the WWE United States Title.

2020-2021

In 2020, the GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Titles were vacated and Koji Iwamoto won the AJPW World Junior Heavyweight Title. Three titles changed hands in 2021: Robbie Eagles won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title, Taichi and Zack Sabre Jr. won the IWGP Tag Team Titles, and Chase Owens won the NJPW King of Pro-Wrestling Title.
