Title Changes On This Day in Wrestling (July 31st)

July 31 has been another fairly busy day in terms of pro wrestling title changes, with wrestlingdata.com reporting that there have been around 274 major/notable title changes on this date historically. Weirdly, the site doesn’t list a ton of actual named changes, so this list will look a lot smaller than most usual days.

Some of the bigger changes include Giant Baba winning the AJPW/PWF Heavyweight Title, Stan Hansen winning the NWA International Heavyweight Title in 1986, Jumbo Tsuruta & Yoshiaki Yatsu winning the AJPW World Tag Team Titles in 1988, Lance Storm winning the WCW Cruiserweight Title in 2000 and Adam Pearce winning the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title in 2011.

Pro Title changes on July 31st

1984-1988

The earliest July 31st entry is from 1984, when Giant Baba won the AJPW/PWF Heavyweight Title. In 1986, Stan Hansen won the NWA International Heavyweight Title and Hiro Saito won the AJPW World Junior Heavyweight Title. Jumbo Tsuruta and Yoshiaki Yatsu won the AJPW World Tag Team Titles in 1988.

1992-2002

The NWA/WCW United States Tag Team Titles were listed as defunct in 1992. Lance Storm won the WCW Cruiserweight Title in 2000.

2011

Adam Pearce won the NWA World Heavyweight Title, and Pimpinela Escarlata won the AAA Reina de Reinas Title.
