Title Changes On This Day in Wrestling (June 29th)

June 29th is another pretty busy day when it comes to pro wrestling title changes. According to wrestlingdata.com there’s been 334 major title changes historically.

On of the more notable changes saw Stone Cold Steve Austin win back the WWF Championship on RAW. Austin won the title back just one day after dropping it to Kane in a First Blood match at the King of the Ring pay-per-view.

Pro Wrestling Title changes on June 29th

1973-1999

The earliest June 29th entry is from 1973, when Kim Sung Ho won the NWA World Light Heavyweight Title. Blue Demon won the NWA World Welterweight Title in 1975. Steve Austin won the WWF Title in 1998. Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy won the WWF Tag Team Titles in 1999.

2002

Four WWE Hardcore Title changes took place on June 29th, 2002, under the championship’s 24/7 rule: Steven Richards, Shawn Stasiak, Bradshaw, and Spike Dudley each held the title on this date.

2008

Four titles changed hands on June 29th, 2008. Kofi Kingston won the WWE Intercontinental Title. Mark Henry won the ECW Title. Flash and Stuka Jr. won the CMLL Arena Coliseo Tag Team Titles. Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase Jr. won the WWE World Tag Team Titles.

2012-2013

Adam Cole won the ROH World Television Title in 2012. In 2013, Chris Sabin won the TNA X-Division Title, which was also recorded as vacated that year.

2014

Three titles changed hands on June 29th, 2014. John Cena won the WWE World Heavyweight Title. Suwama won the AJPW Unified Triple Crown Heavyweight Title. Yujiro Takahashi won the NEVER Openweight Title.

2021-2025

In 2021, Felino won the Mexican National Light Heavyweight Title and Isaiah Scott won the NXT North American Title. The most recent entry is from 2025, when Zack Sabre Jr. won the IWGP World Heavyweight Title.
