Will Ospreay medically cleared to return to the ring

Will Ospreay has been medically cleared to return to the ring.

1PW announced today that Ospreay will return to action against Bobby Fish on their Saturday, April 22 show in a match for the promotion’s World Championship.

Ospreay last wrestled in March in the New Japan Cup, advancing to the third round of the tournament before a shoulder injury forced him to withdraw from the competition. He was replaced in the New Japan Cup by fellow United Empire member Mark Davis of Aussie Open.

Last week, NJPW announced that Ospreay would take on Hiroshi Tanahashi at Resurgence in Long Beach, California on Sunday, May 21 in an IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship number one contender’s tournament match, with the winner advancing to the tournament finals to take on the winner of today’s Lance Archer vs. Fred Rosser match at NJPW Dominion in Osaka on June 4.

While not officially announced to this point, the tournament winner is expected to face IWGP US Champion Kenny Omega at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2 on Sunday, June 25 in Toronto.
