World Heavyweight title match official for MLW Slaughterhouse

Davey Boy Smith Jr. is getting a World Heavyweight Championship shot at MLW Slaughterhouse.

It was announced today that Smith will challenge Alex Kane for the MLW World Heavyweight Championship at next month’s Slaughterhouse event. The show is taking place at Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena on Saturday, October 14. It will air live on Fite+.

Earlier this year, Smith was crowned as the winner of the 2023 Opera Cup tournament in MLW. Smith, who also won the tournament in 2019, is a two-time Opera Cup holder.

Kane and Smith were the final two wrestlers in this year’s MLW Battle Riot match. Kane won the Battle Riot and later defeated Alex Hammerstone to win the MLW World Heavyweight Championship. Kane has been champion since July.

The Kane vs. Smith match is part of a double main event at Slaughterhouse. In the other top match on the show, Minoru Suzuki faces off against Jacob Fatu. The match is Suzuki’s MLW debut.

These are the first two matches that have been confirmed for Slaughterhouse.
