Former WWE star Braun Strowman interested in playing horror movie icon

Former WWE wrestler Braun Strowman (Adam Scherr) has interest in playing one of the most iconic characters in horror movie history.

While speaking with Collider at the Fantastic Fest film festival, Scherr named Jason Voorhees from the “Friday the 13th” franchise as the horror character he would most like to play. And Scherr indicated that there at least have been some talks in the past about making that a reality.

“There may be some talks about it with people that I know and my agency,” Scherr said. “If we could ever get everybody to get back on the same page and allow the things to work, I might be the next Voorhees.”

There hasn’t been a new “Friday the 13th” movie since 2009, though the next installment is said to be in the very early stages of development. A prequel TV series — titled “Crystal Lake” — is being developed by A24 and Peacock. Scherr does not have a role in that show.

Scherr was released from his WWE contract in May, marking the end of his second stint with the company. He is starring in the new USA Network series “Everything on the Menu with Braun Strowman” that will debut after SmackDown on October 24. The series was created while Scherr was still with WWE.

Since his release, the 42-year-old Scherr has not wrestled anywhere. He plays a security guard in the movie “Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon” that premiered at Fantastic Fest.

During his interview with Collider, Scherr noted that he would “gladly” shave off his beard if that was a requirement of playing Jason Voorhees.
