It’s Thursday night and Honor is Real, as it’s Global Wars time in Cincinnati. And we’re kicking it off with a ROH World TV Championship defense.

ROH World Television Championship: AR Fox (c) vs. Action Andretti vs. “Blackheart” Lio Rush

Andretti refused the Code of Honor as he rolled out of the ring upon the bell ring. Fox was left to deal with Rush, who whispered… something to him. This was apparently to have the two go after Andretti early. Andrettii found himself getting hit by a big boot from Rush and a Fox enzuigiri that sent him flying out of the ring.

Meanwhile, Fox and Rush shook hands for the Code of Honor and the two engaged in quick action. After a jumping neckbreaker from Fox, Andretti did a double handspring into a double cutter on Fox and Andretti. Fast and furious action as Fox leapt off the side of the turnbuckle for a moonsault onto Rush outside of the ring. Irish whip by Fox to Andretti, who leapt onto the elevated ramp to avoid calamity. Fox followed suit, but was planted by the DDT onto the ramp by Andretti. With the World TV Champion down and out, Andretti searched for a weapon, but found an umbrella underneath the ring, which was held by Lio Rush. As the two tugged over it, Rush’s umbrella was broken, as Andretti violently threw him into the barricade. Andretti then took the remains of the umbrella and feigned hitting Rush with it, but he threw it far away.

As Andretti continued to attack Rush, both were caught by surprise by Fox with a leaping moonsault from the elevated ramp to the ground below. Backk in the ring, Fox tripped up Andretti as he attempted a suplex from the apron, but Andretti countered it. Rush hit a Stunner on Fox as Andretti flew into him with a clothesline afterwards. The cover by Andretti, but Rush kicked out repeatedly on each attempt.

Corkscrew splash onto Fox by Andretti only got a near-fall. Andretti stomped on Rush in the corner, but the Blackheart seemed to laugh maniacally at the violence being dished out at him. Fox got ahead of Andretti as he hit him with a clotheslin in the corner. Rope-assisted dropkick by Fox on Andretti was followed by cutters on his two foes. Swanton by Fox on Andretti, but Rush broke up the count. Rush lifted Fox up as his attempted low-angle springboard basement stunner was blocked. Fox then got the Blackheart with a rope-assisted spinning DDT and an Anarchy Suplex for the near-fall. Andretti recovered and hit the Shining Wizard on Fox, which only left him and Rush standing for the time being. The former Cru members battered one another with exchanges of strikes as Andretti fell victim to Rush’s basement stunner. One, two…. NO! Rush headed to the top rope, but Fox tried to stop him. Rush bit at the side of Fox’s head to knock him down. High-risk move missed as Andretti hit Rush with the knee and the Falcon Arrow for a very close two-count.

Andretti hit a returning Fox with the pumphandle slam for another two count as he dragged the champion and challenger next to one another. Andretti headed up top, but Rush intercepted him. Rush beckoned Fox to join him up top for a double superplex. Rake to the eyes by Andretti, but he paid for it with a double superkick by Fox and Rush. Meanwhile, Fox and Rush took each other out with a double down clothesline. All three men staggered to their feat as we got a blow-for-blow exchange of strikes from Rush, Fox, and Andretti. Fox blasted both Andretti and Rush with big boots, but the low-blow by Action took him out. Shotgun dropkick by Andretti, but he couldn’t connect, instead getting hit with the basement stunner followed by the submission hold. Fox slid in and broke the hold.

Fox was planted by the basement stunner from Rush, who was rolled up by Andretti for an unsuccessful kickout. Rush eventually took advantage and finished off Andretti with the Black Thunder Bomb to become the new ROH World TV Champion.

Lio Rush def. Action Andretti & AR Fox via pinfall to win the ROH World TV Championship

A hell of an opening bout for Global Wars featuring three great competitors. I really enjoyed this one, and it was the right call to have Lio Rush the World TV Title here. He’s done marvelous work with this Blackheart character and this was a great payoff for it.
