Sami Zayn surprised with Kevin Owens reunion to celebrate WWE Championship win
Becky Lynch had a surprise union planned for the newly crowned Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn.
In an exclusive video shared on WWE’s social media platforms, Lynch brought in Kevin Owens to greet Zayn. The two WWE stars have been friends for more than two decades, first meeting at an independent wrestling promotion in the early 2000s. Lynch and Zayn’s friendship began around 2009 when struggling to make a name while coming up in the industry. The trio were photographed in Zayn’s new t-shirt highlighting his WWE Title win.
“I’m floored by the outpouring support. I genuinely thought that six people like me and everyone else finds me annoying, and it turns out everyone loves me. I’m honestly shocked,” Zayn told Lynch and Owens in the clip.
After Night of Champions, Owens and Lynch were the first few WWE stars to applaud and celebrate the new champion’s victory.
Owens has been sidelined from in-ring action since April last year due to a neck injury, however, he is involved in WWE’s Legends & Future Greats program. He also made an appearance at NXT’s Great American Bash as host for the Tailgate and Watch Party outside the Performance Center.
