Scarlett says she went ‘numb’ after WWE WrestleMania 40 match was taken away

Killer Kross gets honest about his relationship with Scarlett Bordeaux: 'Just instant chemistry'

Scarlett Bordeaux was set to compete at WrestleMania 40 alongside her husband, Karrion Kross (real name Kevin Kesar) but her involvement was omitted without reason. She and Kross detailed the backstage circumstances and uncertainty they experienced at the time.

In an interview with Denise Salcedo, Bordeaux revisited the scrapped plans for her participation in the Philadelphia Street Fight at WrestleMania 40. B-Fab and Bordeaux were initially slated to participate in the tag team match featuring The Pride vs. The Final Testament. She recalled discussing her fear with Kross on getting too excited about the opportunity that might be taken away, which is what ultimately happened.

“B-Fab and I were actually supposed to be part of that WrestleMania match. We were supposed to actually wrestle, not just manage. We still got to do some really cool stuff. I got to go through a table at Mania, which is great. But yeah, we were supposed to be part of that match originally. We were excited and I remember this fear and I was crying about it that night when we found out that we’re supposed to be in the match. I was crying, telling Kevin ‘What if I get really excited about this and they take it away? I’m really, really afraid to be excited about this right now’. And they did. And I just remember, just kind of going numb. I’m like, just accept it. You can only spend so much time fighting and being angry. But maybe I should have been fighting more.”

Bordeaux applauded Chelsea Green’s determination to fight for her rights within WWE and wished she could have done the same. Despite this, she remains grateful for her time in WWE and is content with her current wrestling contributions beyond the company.

“I do give credit to Chelsea Green. She said every single thing she’s done, she’s fought for it. I give her so much credit because maybe I could have fought more. Maybe. But I’m so grateful for the time I’ve had there. The fact that I am healthy and we are performing and traveling everywhere. Like I feel like there is something I did right. The fact that I am still doing this and happy doing it, but looking back on it, it’s hard to say if I would change anything. It’s hard.”

Bordeaux said the decision to call off their involvement was last-minute and Kross, who was off-screen, said there was no clear explanation as to why it happened.

Bordeaux: “Just last minute decision. Kevin’s in the kitchen right now. Do you remember what that decision was? Why they squashed that?”

Kross: “They didn’t tell us why.”

Bordeaux: “I just remember B-Fab was like, ‘Oh, I got really cool gear made. This is a bummer, but I’m glad we get to do something.’”

Kross: “Bobby (Lashley) and I both fought to have you both involved”

Bordeaux: “Yeah, Kross and Bobby both fought for me and B-Fab to be part of it. It made sense. And plus it was a No DQ, so why the hell wouldn’t we be?”

Kross: “Yeah, we forced you guys. Well, we all collectively forced moments for you guys to have, which was at the very least we were able to do that.”

Kross competed in his last WWE match at SummerSlam 2025 against Sami Zayn. His contract expired in August. In the negotiations for a new deal, Kross revealed that he was offered a contract extension but not Bordeaux which led to their decision to part ways with the company.
