The Miz claims Maryse ‘never gets the credit that she deserves’

The Miz claims Maryse does not get enough credit that she deserves for her WWE tenure as an in-ring competitor and other contributions.

Speaking with Complex Graps Wrestling Podcast, Miz discussed working with Maryse on-screen in WWE. He revisited their first meeting when he was the host of the now-defunct Divas Search. Miz proceeded to discuss the success of their reality series, Miz & Mrs, and proclaimed that Maryse does not receive the credit she deserves for her WWE contributions.

“Every time we are on camera together it just creates magic. It creates some sort of special moment that people talk about, that people remember.  And that’s a testament to, sure, me, but I tell you what, the more is Maryse. You want to talk about people getting flowers, she never gets her flowers. She never gets the credit that she deserves. When she was a Divas Champion, a Women’s Champion in WWE. This was a time when girls got maybe a minute on TV, and you had to get your character over, get people over, get people talking, get people booing, get people cheering, get people reacting. And she was able to do that in the minute, the two minutes that she would get.”

“And then moving on to Miz & Mrs and the Intercontinental Title run that we had. She was the reason Miz & Mrs came about and the success of Miz & Mrs.”

Maryse was associated with WWE first from 2006 to 2011 and then later made sporadic appearances for segments with The Miz, and at times accompanied him for his matches. Her last WWE match was a tag team bout with The Miz against Edge and Beth Phoenix at the 2022 Royal Rumble. Maryse is also a two-time Divas Champion in her WWE career.

Maryse has also been a part of a few vignettes on SmackDown in April this year amid Miz’s rivalry with Danhausen.
