Eric Young is no longer with TNA Wrestling.

On Wednesday, TNA issued a press release announcing that the promotion has come to terms on Young’s release, effective immediately.

TNA’s statement reads:

“TNA Wrestling has come to terms on the release of Eric Young, effective immediately. EY has had a legendary TNA career, including twice as TNA World Champion. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Fightful is reporting that Young requested his release from TNA. WWE sources reportedly expect him to return, with the report noting that Young has long had a good relationship with Triple H and that the door has been open for him to come back to the company.

Young was part of WWE’s roster cuts announced on April 15, 2020, not long after the start of the global COVID-19 pandemic. He returned to Impact Wrestling later that year, briefly leaving in late 2022 to re-sign with WWE, though he never appeared for the promotion during that stint. Young returned to Impact in the summer of 2023.

The 46-year-old Young first debuted for TNA as a member of Team Canada in early 2004. He remained with the promotion until signing with WWE in the spring of 2016.
