JDC wrestles final match at TNA Genesis

JDC has wrestled his final match.

In a competitive match at Saturday’s Genesis pay-per-view event, Eddie Edwards defeated JDC in what ended up being an emotional back-and forth match. Although JDC kicked out of one Boston knee party, Edwards followed it up with the Die Hard driver and went to the corner for a second. JDC, seemingly accepting this was the end, instructed Edwards to follow through. Edwards connected with the knee then pinned JDC to end his final match.

After the bell rang, the rest of The System and other babyfaces on the roster came out to applaud JDC as he recovered in the ring. He made his exit and slapped hands with fans as he made it to the stage. He posed one final time on the entrance ramp before the segment ended.

JDC had announced his retirement back in November, saying his final match would take place at Genesis. The following month, he unsuccessfully challenged then-champion Frankie Kazarian at Final Resolution for the TNA Championship. When he came out for Saturday’s match, he wore Terry Funk-style tights as a tribute.

Despite his final match taking place, JDC is still scheduled for this coming Thursday’s episode of TNA on AMC, where he and the rest of the group will introduce a new member of The System.

Starting his career in 1999, JDC is best known for his run in WWE under the name Fandango. He and Tyler Breeze formed a successful tag team, holding the NXT Tag Team titles at one point. He also won season 4 of NXT under its reality show format.
