Former TNA World Champion Mike Santana hints at free agency date
On social media today, former TNA World Champion Mike Santana seemingly revealed when he’ll be hitting the open market.
Santana finished up with TNA Wrestling when he dropped the promotion’s World title at Slammiversary on June 28. He did not appear at the post-Slammiversary television tapings ahead of his contract expiring in mid-July. It appears that we now have an exact date for when he’ll be entering free agency, with Santana posting “7/15” to his social media accounts on Wednesday. That July 15 date is one week away from today.
It’s heavily rumored that WWE will be Santana’s next destination. During his TNA run, he worked some matches for NXT through the WWE-TNA partnership. WrestleVotes reported last month that, if Santana were to sign with WWE, the company would like to have him on the main roster before the end of 2026.
Santana was a two-time World Champion for TNA, breaking out as a singles star after choosing to bet on himself. He was previously thought of as a tag team specialist during his time with AEW, his previous stint in Impact Wrestling, and on the indies.
Mike Santana addresses his future —
While his focus remained on TNA heading into Slammiversary, Santana did not shy away from rumors that he could be heading elsewhere. He told McGuire on Wrestling that he was open to opportunities for growth whether that be in TNA or a different company.
“I’m the type that growth is part of my life and I feel like if there’s an opportunity for me to grow, then that’s what I’m going to do, right? Whether it’s at TNA, whether — anywhere, anywhere,” Santana said. “For me, if you’re not growing in this business, then what are you doing? If you’re not trying to progress in this business, then what are we doing? And at the end of the day, like I need to show my daughter that there’s levels, right? There’s levels to this. And also my dad used to always say the top of one mountain is the bottom of another, right? So keep climbing, keep climbing.”
