Mike Santana’s TNA contract reportedly set to expire this summer

Mike Santana

The TNA World Champion could potentially be a free agent soon.

PWInsider reported on Monday that Mike Santana’s contract is expected to expire sometime in July. It was noted that WWE has shown interest in him before, and has made several appearances on NXT thanks to TNA’s relationship with WWE.

Santana’s recent breakout into singles success

Santana broke into wrestling in 2007. Early in his career he was part of a successful tag team with Ortiz, and together the two enjoyed success both in TNA and later in AEW. Santana, however, asked for his AEW release in 2024, choosing to branch out as a singles wrestler elsewhere. He signed with TNA shortly thereafter and the following year, defeated Trick Williams to win his first TNA World title at Bound for Glory.

Since TNA and WWE officially announced their partnership, Santana has made several appearances on the brand, including taking part in the NXT vs. TNA Showdown special event that took place last year. His most recent match in NXT had him team with OTM to defeat DarkState at NXT’s recent show at the Madison Square Garden theatre.
