Nic Nemeth: My last WWE contract was to keep me from going to AEW
Nic Nemeth says his final contract with WWE was meant to keep him from going to AEW.
The former Dolph Ziggler appeared on Off the Ropes with Jonathan Coachman recently and explained that he told WWE he was asking for more money than he believed they would pay him because he was ready to leave.
Nemeth said:
“My last contract was to keep me from going to AEW. That was it. It was winked and not said, but it was completely understood. I go, I’m asking for this elaborate amount because I know you won’t pay me what I’m worth. I’m gonna make a move. I’m going elsewhere. They go, nope, we’ll do it. I go, what? Okay.”
It is not entirely clear when Nemeth’s final WWE contract was signed. However, it was reported in 2018 that he had signed a two-year deal with the company believed to be worth $1.5 million per year. He likely signed an extension at some point, as Nemeth later said that at the time of his WWE release in September 2023, he still had a year and a half left on his deal.
Nemeth announced that he re-signed with TNA Wrestling in January. The length of the deal has not been disclosed.
