Many backstage in TNA Wrestling are aware that the company’s first show on AMC wasn’t good.

Last week’s episode of Impact has been criticized by many fans, although reaction to the promotion’s Genesis pay-per-view on Saturday has been more positive. Fightful Select reported on Wednesday that most understood it fell short of expectations.

“By and large, most understood it wasn’t a good show, although some others will publicly claim it was the kind of show they ‘needed’ to do,” the report reads.

The report also noted that some in TNA felt the general audience did not understand all the challenges the company faced for the show. Although not specifically mentioned in the Fightful report, several TNA wrestlers were unable to appear after their visas were not completed on time. X-Division Champion Leon Slater and Knockouts World Title challenger Dani Luna were among them.

Dave Meltzer addressed the show in last week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, writing:

“Overall, as a new birth, I didn’t see much to it at all. It mostly felt like WWE retreads with no direction at all, no strong promos, The Concierge in the Elegance Brand is good but the Mr. Elegance thing was a one note thing that got old within a minute and the match was really bad. The crowd started out hot, but they weren’t given much until the main event.”
