TNA Impact live results: Dog collar match, Final Resolution fallout
One of the more violent matches in pro wrestling returns on tonight’s TNA Impact as Dani Luna and Indi Hartwell do battle in a dog collar match from El Paso, Texas.
The show will feature the fallout from both last Friday’s TNA Final Resolution and Saturday’s NXT Deadline including TNA World Champion Frankie Kazarian who will be on hand after successfully defending against JDC.
The rivalry between TNA and NXT continues as Matt Cardona vs. Lexis King will determine the advantage in next week’s TNA vs. NXT steel cage match under WarGames rules.
A six-way bout between Jake Something, Cedric Alexander, Ryan Nemeth, BDE, Jason Hotch and Dezmond Xavier will determine the next challenger for X-Division Champion Leon Slater.
The Elegance Brand of Heather & M will take on Harley Hudson & Myla Grace while Sinner & Saint (Judas Icarus & Travis Williams) challenge Eddie Edwards & Brian Myers of The System.
TNA Tag Team Champions The Hardys will be on hand to address the challenge of new arrivals The Righteous at Final Resolution.

The King’s Speech with Frankie Kazarian
The commentators made it clear as Kazarian made it down to the ring that JDC did not tap out, but that he passed out, in his match with Kazarian at Final Resolution last week. Kazarian bragged about “retiring” JDC (he’s still got another month). Kazarian will lead TNA into the “AMC era.” Move over, Walter White! Kazarian continued to acknowledge the “angry marks” who aren’t happy with him as TNA World Champion. I was thinking maybe AJ Styles could win a World Title in WWE, then all the old guys from vintage TNA could be on top in 2025. (Oh wait, I guess he did.)
Mike Santana came out through the crowd to a tepid reaction while Hannifan talked up a steel cage match between TNA and NXT for next week. That is Santana’s “renewed path of purpose.” Santana told Kazarian to shut up, and cut a promo in Spanish. Santana has plans. First, he’s going to lock himself into a steel cage with the team NXT and beat them. Then, on January 17th at Genesis, Santana is going to take his title back from Frankie Kazarian in Dallas, Texas. Hannifan confirmed the match as Santana has a “contractually obligated rematch.”
Next Week in the Steel Cage: Lexis King, Tyriek, Tyson, Stacks & Brooks Jensen v. Steve Maclin, Matt Cardona, Mike Cardona, and The Hardys.
— Lexis King and the rest of the NXT B-Team cut a promo on Team TNA. Stacks had a special message for Santino Marella, calling him a good director of TNA but a horrible father.
— On NXT Tuesday, all the losers from the Iron Survivor Match were put in a fatal four way match to determine the next #1 Contender for the NXT Title.
Lexis King v. Matt Cardona in a “Winner Gets the Advantage in the Steel Cage” Match
The rules for next week’s steel cage match (which had only been advertised as a “Steel Cage Match” so far) are basically War Games/Blood and Guts-lite. Two men will start, and after “a period of time” guys from alternating teams will enter every minute.
King worked over Cardona’s arm. Cardona exploded out of the corner with a clothesline to mount his comeback. Cardona drove King down to the mat with a flatliner, then followed up with a running boot in the corner. Cardona went for his wife’s finisher, but King broke it up by attacking his arm, then hitting him with a superkick.
King tried to use his walking stick as a weapon, but the referee stopped him. While King argued with the referee, Stacks ran in, but Cardona hit him with Radio Silence. However, King rolled up a distracted Cardona for the pinfall.
Match Result: King pinned Cardona (5:01)
After the match, Stacks and King worked over Cardona’s already injured arm until Steve Maclin ran in to chase them off.
— Léi Yîng Lee and Xia Brookside put each other over, until Tessa Blanchard’s crew came over to talk trash and set herself up as Lee’s next challenger.
Myla Grace & Harley Hudson v. Heather & M by Elegance (w/ The Concierge)
The Elegance Brand came out dressed as elves and brought out fake presents, which they didn’t give to their opponents. This sparked a brief brawl before the bell.
M faked an ankle injury so Heather could cheap shot Hudson. M missed a senton and Hudson got the tag to Grace. Grace got a near fall with an inverted butterfly suplex. Grace took M out of the match with a Code Red.
The Concierge got up on the apron with one of the gifts, which Hudson grabbed to hit him over the head. Grace then rolled up Heather, but M (from the floor) pulled Heather on top of Grace and got the pinfall.
Match Result: Heather & M defeated Grace & Hudson by pinfall (3:13)
TNA Injury Report:
- Matt Cardona is OUT with an arm injury and not cleared for the steel cage match.
- Mustafa Ali is all scratched up from being dragged out of the arena behind a horse at Final Resolution.
- Santino Marlla is cleared after “suffering a jaw contusion” when his soon to be son-in-law punched him at the end of Final Resolution last week.
— Gia Miller interviewed Rich Swann, who confirmed that him smacking AJ Francis with the X-Division title belt was his exit from First Class. Francis jumped Swann during the interview and left him laying.
BDE v. Jake Something v. Ryan Nemeth v. Cedric Alexander v. Dezmond Xavier v. Jason Hotch (w/ Order 4)in a Six Way Scramble for an X-Division Title Shot
Mustafa Ali got “roped into” commentary by Hannifan, and as much as I’d like to take credit for that joke, it was Hannifan’s.
There was a pretty funny spot where Something just kept running the ropes and shoulder blocking people as they would get in his way. Cedric, BDE, and Xavier teamed up to hit Something with a superkick. But then after that, it settled into a long period of two guys doing a one-on-one match for a bit while the other four sold on the floor. Then one guy would get dump and other would jump in for the next mini-match. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Xavier hit Nemeth with a cutter. Hotch tried for a suplex on Xavier, but Xavier countered with a roll-up for a near fall. Hotck took out Xaiver with a neckbreaker, but Alexander ran in with a clothesline and hit a Michinoku Driver for a near fall. Something broke that pin up, and then Something and Alexander squared off. Something slammed Alexander, so he rolled to the floor and then BDE and Something squared off. That didn’t go so well for BDE.
Something kept his other opponents out of the ring to focus on BDE. Something set up BDE for a superplex, but Xavier and Alexander powerbombed him out of the corner. This left Xavier and Alexander to square off. Hodge took out Xaiver with an enziguri, then Hodge and Alexander had a brief exchange, until Alexander dove through the ropes to take out Something with a dive. Hodge then followed them out with a moonsualt on Alexander and Something. Xaiver then hit a tope suicida onto the pile of guys on the floor. BDE ran the ropes for his own dive, but Nemeth cut him off with a clothesline. Nemeth then mocked Mara Sadé. He hit a DDT for a near fall. Nemeth dropped to the floor to grab a chair, but Sadé showed up and took Nemeth out of the match with a superkick. (Oh my, it feels like they’re building up Sadé v. Ryan for the AMC premiere show.)
Back in the ring, Alexander hit Hodge with a Spanish Fly for a near fall. Something took out Alexander with a body block, Xavier took out Something, and BDE hit a cutter on Xavier for a near fall.
BDE hit a frog splash on Something, but before he could get the cover, Alexander snatched BDE up and gave him the Lumbar Check to get the pinfall.
Match Result: Cedric Alexander pinned BDE after a Lumbar Check to get an X-Division title match (10:01)
— Frankie Kazarian confronted Santino Marella and wanted a different challenger instead of Mike Santana. So, Kazarian made a battle royal, and the winner will face Kazarian for the championship… in three weeks, which is not the AMC premiere. At the TNA premiere on AMC, Kazarian will defend the title against someone else, but Marella hasn’t decided who. Also, the NXT Team for the cage match came along and demanded the match be 5-on-4 with Cadrona out, and Arianna Grace smacked her fiancé for being disrespectful.
Eddie Edwards & Brian Myers (w/ Alisha Edwards, Moose & JDC) v. Sinner & Saint (Judas Icarus and Travis Williams)
In a promo before the match, JDC told Eddie Edwards that he was going to bring it at Genesis in his retirement match.
This is supposed to be a type of “proving ground” match to see if Williams and Icarus are good enough for The System. Myers got worked over for the first two minutes of the match. Edwards got the hot tag, and Williams helpfully set himself up in the corner for a backpack stunner. A doulbe-team sit out powerbomb on Edwards got Williams a near fall. Williams found himself isolated by the System, and after a clothesline (the “Roster Cut?” That’s funny) and a running knee, that was it for Williams.
Match Result: Edwards & Myers defeated Sinner & Saint when Edwards pinned Williams (4:49)
The Hardys In-Ring Promo
Matt Hardy was happy to be in El Paso, home of Eddie Guerrero! The Hardys talked about the big steel cage match for next week. Jeff said he wants Santino to replace Matt Cardona with someone who loves TNA as much as the Hardys do. Matt Hardy promised the biggest year for TNA “EVAHHHHH!” Jeff Hardy sang about the NXT Team making themselves “Obsolete” (at least, I think he was supposed to be singing).
The Hardys were interrupted by the Righteous, Vincent and Dutch. The crowd did a pretty good job booing down Vincent when he got on the mic. Vincent tried to reassure the Hardys the Righteous weren’t there to hurt the Hardys, who they revered like “gods among mortals.” Dutch affirmed that it was really an honor to be in the ring with the Hardys, and Dutch put over the fans of the Hardys, who Matt called “Die-Hardys.” Vincent also wished them luck in their steel cage match next week. And… that was it?
Then The Righetous just left.

Dani Luna v. Indi Hartwell in a Dog Collar Match
Luna attacked Hartwell after she was attached to the dog collar. Hartwell whipped Luna with the chain, and after Luna was attached to the dog collar, the match got officially underway.
Hartwell got a near fall after a side slam. Luna dropped to the floor and tried to leave, but could only get so far since she was attached by the neck to a chain. Hartwell pulled Luna into the ring apron. Luna pulled Hartwell into the ring ropes. Back in the ring, Luna choked Hartwell with the chain.
The fight went to the floor, and Luna use the chain to wrap Hartwell around a ringpost. She choked the air out of her and whipped her with the chain. Luna hit Hartwell with a boot before unwrapping her opponent, then yanking Hartwell into the post shoulder-first. Hartwell pulled Luna back into the post and she hit it headfirst, busting herself open.
Back in the ring, Hartwell worked the cut. Hartwell booted Luna over the ropes. Hartwell yanked Luna with the chain into a spinebuster for near fall. Luna crotched Hartwell with the chain and hit a running boot for a near fall. Luna stopped to give us a look at her gory bladejob.
Luna dropped to the floor for some powder, but Hartwell tripped Luna up and she spilled the powder. Luna shoved Hartwell into the ref, knocking her out. Luna hit the Luna Landing, but the ref was out… until she crawled over and counted the pin. Well, that was anti-climatic.
Match Result: Luna pinned Hartwell (12:20).
This was definitely a show that happened. A lot of the next month is going to be setting up the AMC premiere and Genesis. So this was about to start setting up bigger things down the line, which is fine. I would have guessed they’d put the belt back on Santana on the first AMC show, but I guess saving it for Genesis might work.
