Trick Williams on dream WWE opponent: ‘I would love that match with CM Punk’
Trick Williams addressed admiration for Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk, and his influence as a mentor. With the two stars colliding on SmackDown not too long ago, Williams stated why a match against CM Punk would be a dream opportunity.
Williams highlighted Punk’s wrestling resume and creating ‘legendary moments’ make him a worthy dream opponent in WWE during his interview on ESPN Houston.
“Oh yeah, for sure. I mean, nothing but respect for CM Punk.”
“He’s a GOAT, and any time you can share the ring with somebody who’s just done legendary things, had legendary moments you want to sit next to legends as much as possible. I would love that match with CM Punk.”
Punk confronted Williams backstage on the July 31 edition of SmackDown. The then-United States Champion teased that an Undisputed WWE Title pursuit was in his future.
During Williams’ NXT run, Punk served as a mentor to the WWE talent. He was also the special guest referee for Williams’ NXT Championship match against Ethan Page in 2024. Beyond their on-screen interactions, the former United States Champion has credited Punk’s backstage influence in helping train and guide up-and-coming talent.
