Chael Sonnen is giving Conor McGregor next to zero chance of beating Max Holloway

Chael Sonnen YouTube Channel

UFC legend Chael Sonnen has given his take for the upcoming UFC 329 main event between Conor McGregor and Max Holloway. Speaking to Ariel Helwani before the fight, Chael indicated that Conor will have to essentially pull off a miracle to get the win against ‘Blessed,’ even at 170lbs.

“Max, perhaps, has the clearest path to victory of anybody who’s fought in a UFC main event in history. Conor is not just gonna have to do something no human has done. He has to do three things. Nobody has returned to a weight class higher than their prime, not even if you go back through boxing, and looked great. Nobody has returned from a compound fracture, looked great, or even found success. Nobody has returned to a five-round proposition, and that is the biggest one. There is no scenario where Conor McGregor will leave his stool for the fourth round… I’m telling you, from a human anatomy standpoint, it can’t happen.”

Conor McGregor vs Max Holloway Prediction

There are a few different elements of McGregor vs Holloway 2 that make it more intriguing (especially because it is at welterweight and not Lightweight). The Irish star hasn’t had his hand raised since January 2020 (against Donald Cerrone) and he is coming off of a five-year layoff, but Holloway is moving up two weight classes to get this fight (from featherweight to welterweight).

Plus, McGregor already has a win over Max. Granted, that win was back in August 2013 and both fighters have changed dramatically since then, but you know full well that McGregor will be bringing that up every second he can pre-fight to get in Holloway’s head.
