Update on AJ Lee’s WWE future after WrestleMania 42
AJ Lee competed in her first WrestleMania match eleven years after being away from WWE.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, WWE has no plans for Lee in the near future as she is done with her current run. Her return is not officially ruled out but Lee will be away from the ring for quite some time. There is no confirmation on the exact duration of the period. However, she could potentially be involved at SummerSlam and other WWE programs later in the year.
At the WrestleMania post-show, Lee got emotional in an interview with Jackie Redmond and cited that she was stepping away from wrestling for a while but would be back soon. She did not cite the reason behind the decision. A couple of days ago, Lee posted a lengthy note on social media, thanking Becky Lynch for the assistance during their feud, and showcased gratitude to the fans who stood by her throughout her career.
Lee returned in September last year after nearly a decade away from WWE and wrestling. Her first match back was a tag team with CM Punk against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. This further escalated into a singles rivalry with Lynch for the Intercontinental Title which she eventually won at Elimination Chamber.
The two had a rematch for the title at WrestleMania 42 where Lynch walked away with the victory.
