AAA Rey de Reyes preview & predictions: Will Dominik Mysterio leave AAA forever?

  • Ian Carey

Arguably one of the biggest AAA Mega Championship matches of all time takes place in Puebla tonight.

On the show, Dominik Mysterio will defend the title against former champion El Hijo del Vikingo. The stipulation is that if Dominik successfully retains, Vikingo will no longer be able to challenge for the Mega title for as long as Dominik remains champion. However, if Dominik loses, he will be forced to leave AAA forever.

Below are previews, predictions, and betting odds for each match scheduled for Rey de Reyes 2026:

Dominik Mysterio defends the AAA Mega Championship against El Hijo del Vikingo

For a long time leading up to this match, Dominik Mysterio had been a slight betting favorite at -125, with Vikingo at -115. However, there has been significant movement in the odds over the last day since those numbers were published in Friday’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The current odds now list Vikingo at -400 and Dominik at +250, indicating that money has come in heavily on Vikingo.

If the match goes the way oddsmakers expect, tonight would mark Dominik Mysterio’s final night in AAA.

I’m going against the oddsmakers here. I just don’t believe The Undertaker, Jeremy Borash, and the creative team at AAA are going to write Dominik out of the promotion. That doesn’t seem likely to me, regardless of where the betting line stands. I’m predicting Dominik pulls off the upset and retains the title.

Prediction: Dominik Mysterio retains

Rey de Reyes Final: Santos Escobar vs. La Parka vs. El Grande Americano vs. The Original El Grande Americano

In the Rey de Reyes final, Santos Escobar currently has the top odds at even, followed by La Parka at +200, El Grande Americano at +250, and the original El Grande Americano at +300.

This is a match that could realistically go any of four ways. The two Americanos could end up canceling each other out, and Escobar is currently involved in a program with El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., which could also factor into the outcome.

I’m going to go a bit outside the box and pick La Parka here. The existing storylines involving the other three competitors could open the door for him to steal the victory and earn a shot at the Mega Championship.

Prediction: La Parka

AAA Reina de Reinas Champion Flammer defends in an Open Challenge

Odds for this match were only recently released and list the challenger as a -260 favorite against Flammer at +170, despite the fact that we don’t know who the challenger will be.

It feels likely the challenger will be someone with WWE experience. Nattie (FKA Natalya) recently challenged for the title, so it seems unlikely she would be the choice again, and Chelsea Green is injured so it’s likely going to be a face we haven’t seen in AAA before.

I’m not sure I agree that Flammer will lose this title soon. I mean, she’s in the WWE 2K26 video game released this week, you can’t take the title off her now! I’ve also already picked two AAA names to lose their titles to a WWE person, so I’m feeling as though Flammer is actually the right pick.

Prediction: Flammer

AAA World Tag Team Champions Pagano & Psycho Clown defend against The War Raiders

It’s clowns vs. vikings as The War Raiders are -165 favorites over Pagano and Psycho Clown (+120) in the AAA World Tag Team title match. There has been some dissension brewing within the Psycho Circus, as someone has been going around attacking clowns recently, with suspicion falling on Pagano.

That tension amongst the clowns could very well create an opening for Erik and Ivar to capture the titles.

Prediction: The War Raiders win the titles

AAA World Cruiserweight Champion Laredo Kid defends against Dragon Lee, Jack Cartwheel, and TJ Perkins

The AAA Cruiserweight Championship will also be on the line at Rey de Reyes. Dragon Lee currently has the best odds at -150, followed by Jack Cartwheel at +150. Champion Laredo Kid sits at +250, with TJ Perkins at +400.

I tend to agree with the oddsmakers here. Dragon Lee appears to be the most likely wrestler to walk away with the title.

Prediction: Dragon Lee wins the title
