AJ Lee wins Women’s Intercontinental title at WWE Elimination Chamber

For the first time in over a decade, AJ Lee is a champion in WWE once again.

Lee defeated Becky Lynch at Saturday’s Elimination Chamber event to win the Women’s Intercontinental Championship for the first time. The two went to battle and during the course of the match the referee was knocked down, leading Lynch to visually tap out to the Black Widow. The match managed to continue until Lynch landed head first on an exposed turnbuckle. Lee followed that up with the Black Widow submission once again to score the submission victory.

Since returning to WWE last fall, Lee has been feuding sporadically with Lynch. The two squared off in a mixed tag team match at Wrestlepalooza, with Lee and CM Punk emerging victorious over Lynch and Seth Rollins. Lee also submitted Lynch at WarGames two months later.

Lee returned to TV following the Royal Rumble and issued the challenge to Lynch, who initally balked at the idea before eventually agreeing. Lynch later jumped Lee from behind as she was helping Maxxine Dupri to the back, posting Lee into a nearby turnbuckle.
