AJ Styles would like to see WWE acquire a promotion in Japan

AJ Styles wants to see WWE in Japan.

On his Phenomenally Retro podcast, Styles was open to the idea of WWE acquiring a promotion in Japan, similar to last year when WWE purchased AAA in Mexico.

“And give me something over in Japan. Oh, man, I would love WWE to find a way to be in Japan kind of like the way AAA is. We’re not changing what they’re doing. We’re not trying to change the culture. We’re just putting our spin on it man,” he said.

Styles pointed out that many times, Japanese wrestlers would be sent to Mexico for executions, and with promotions in both Japan and Mexico, WWE could do something similar. He also touted the success of Japanese stars in WWE, including Shinsuke Nakamura, IYO SKY, and Naraku, aka the former EVIL.

“I believe that with the help of WWE, we would be able to revive Japanese wrestling to where it was. I would love to see it back where it’s the Tokyo Dome. I’m talking about not like a WrestleMania over there. I’m just saying it’s the company selling out the Tokyo Dome like it did in what was it, the early 90s? But yeah, that’d be up to the talent.”

After a long run in TNA, Styles jumped to NJPW and became the leader of the Bullet Club, winning the IWGP Heavyweight title twice before signing with WWE in 2016.
