Asuka-Sasha Banks Women’s title match set for WWE Extreme Rules

Sasha Banks is getting a shot to become a double champion.

After a challenge that was issued on tonight’s Raw, it was announced that Asuka will defend her Raw Women’s Championship against Banks at Extreme Rules. The pay-per-view is taking place on Sunday, July 19.

Banks & SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley retained their Women’s Tag Team titles against The IIconics on tonight’s Raw, getting the win when Banks submitted Peyton Royce with the Banks Statement. In a post-match promo, Banks said she was jealous of Bayley being a double champion. Banks acted like she was going to challenge Bayley to a title match at Extreme Rules — but then revealed that it was Asuka who she was challenging.

Banks & Bayley laughed, then Asuka’s music hit and she came down to the ring. Asuka accepted Banks’ challenge and was then attacked by Bayley & Banks. Asuka fought back, but Banks hit a backstabber and put her in the Banks Statement.

Also on tonight’s Raw, Asuka submitted Charlotte Flair with the Asuka Lock to retain her title. Charlotte had brawled with Nia Jax earlier in the show and was attacked by Jax in a backstage segment later in the episode after unsuccessfully challenging for Asuka’s title.

Drew McIntyre defending the WWE Championship against Dolph Ziggler is also set for Extreme Rules.
