Backstage news on WWE Raw opening segment

A backstage note from Monday’s WWE Raw opening segment involving new World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk, Logan Paul, and The Vision.

Punk opened Monday’s Raw from Rio Rancho, New Mexico with a promo celebrating his World Heavyweight title victory over Jey Uso at Saturday Night’s Main Event this past weekend. He thanked his wife, thanked the fans, and listed off potential future challengers for his title.

Logan Paul interrupted Punk, then The Vision’s Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed interrupted Paul. Reed and Breakker attacked Punk and Paul, with Paul reluctantly fighting alongside Punk. Punk cleared the ring with a chair.

According to our Bryan Alvarez, the opening segment went roughly ten minutes longer than it was originally scripted to, causing a scramble to make up the lost time in later segments. Alvarez notes:

“Opening segment went approximately ten minutes long and they were scrambling.”

Our full report from Monday’s show is here. Paul aligned with The Vision in the show’s closing segment.
