Battle royal to determine next challenger for WWE Universal title

A battle royal will determine the next challenger for Roman Reigns’ Universal Championship.

WWE has announced that a “Black Friday battle royal” will take place on tonight’s episode of SmackDown, with the winner becoming the number one contender to the Universal Championship. WWE hasn’t announced when the winner will be getting their title shot.

The participants for the battle royal haven’t been revealed.

At Survivor Series this past Sunday, Reigns defeated WWE Champion Big E in a non-title champion vs. champion match.

Reigns has held the Universal Championship since August 2020. His most recent title defense was against Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel last month.

Tonight’s SmackDown is being held at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina. Here’s the updated lineup for the episode:

  • Black Friday battle royal to determine next challenger for Roman Reigns’ Universal Championship
  • Drew McIntyre & Jeff Hardy vs. Happy Corbin & Madcap Moss
