Bayley turns against Sasha Banks on WWE SmackDown

After weeks of dissension, the Bayley-Sasha Banks breakup angle took place on SmackDown tonight.

Bayley & Banks lost to Women’s Tag Team Champions Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax in their rematch for the titles on tonight’s show. After the match, Bayley turned against Banks and gave her an extended beatdown. The angle ended with Banks being taken out by ambulance after Bayley wrapped a steel chair around Banks’ neck, went up to the middle rope, and then jumped off and stomped on the chair.

Baszler & Jax retained the Women’s Tag Team titles tonight when Jax hit a crossbody from the middle rope on Bayley and Banks and pinned them at the same time. The story was that Banks hurt her knee during the match. Medical officials checked on Banks after, but she pushed them out of the way.

Bayley went to help Banks but instead kicked Banks in the face. She beat down Banks, including attacking her knee and slamming it into the steel steps.

Bayley & Banks lost the Women’s Tag Team titles to Baszler & Jax at Payback this past Sunday. The week before that, Banks lost the Raw Women’s Championship to Asuka at SummerSlam. Banks helped Bayley retain the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Asuka earlier in the night, but the storyline was that Bayley wasn’t willing to make the same sacrifice for Banks.
