Bayley vs. Nikki Cross Women’s title match set for WWE SmackDown

With the lineup for the show shaken up by WWE’s travel issues getting out of Saudi Arabia, tonight’s SmackDown will now feature a Women’s title match.

WWE on FOX’s Twitter account has announced that Bayley will defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Nikki Cross tonight. Cross became the number one contender to Bayley’s title by winning a six-pack challenge two weeks ago.

Bayley tweeted about the announcement of her defending her title against Cross: “I didn’t sign up for this match tonight.”

Tonight’s SmackDown is taking place at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. WWE is advertising “Daniel Bryan, The Miz, Carmella, Nikki Cross, Dana Brooke — plus, additional surprises” for the episode, and Dave Meltzer reported that a number of NXT wrestlers are being flown in for the show.

Cross, Carmella & Brooke vs. Bayley, Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville had originally been set for tonight. Roman Reigns vs. Baron Corbin, The Revival vs. The New Day for the SmackDown Tag Team titles, and new Universal Champion Bray Wyatt appearing on Miz TV had also been announced.
