Former WWE name Joe Coffey has been booked for the upcoming PROGRESS Wrestling show, Chapter 196: Scorchio from the Electric Ballroom in Camden on Sunday, July 26th. There has been a lot of pushback since the announcement of Coffey, and new owner Big Damo (formerly Killian Dain in WWE) has publicly addressed why the company decided to bring the Gallus member to London for the card.

Big Damo on bringing Joe Coffey back to PROGRESS

An X account mentioned that Coffey’s name was brought up during the #SpeakingOut movement a few years ago, where accusations were made against him of harassment. Reacting to that, Damo/Dain revealed that he had personally investigated the situation, providing the following:

In this particular instance I saw the evidence. I saw the conversations that were doctored on one side. On the other side was the full conversation. This is why he wasn’t let go from his job when many others were.

Coffey was originally suspended by WWE in June of 2020, he however was not subsequently released, as mentioned by Big Damo in his post, and Coffey remained contracted to WWE until his release on May 2, 2025 as part of roster cuts and for no reason attached to the prior allegations.

Several names however were released from WWE around the time of the original accusations, including Jack Gallagher, El Ligero and Travis Banks.
