Big E vs. Seth Rollins WWE title match set for Day 1 PPV

Big E and Seth Rollins are set to face off for the WWE Championship on New Year’s Day.

During the opening segment of tonight’s Raw, it was announced that Big E will defend his WWE Championship against Rollins at WWE’s Day 1 pay-per-view. The PPV is being held at State Farm Arena in Atlanta on Saturday, January 1, 2022.

Rollins became the number one contender to Big E’s title by winning a fatal four-way ladder match on Raw five weeks ago. Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, and Rey Mysterio were Rollins’ opponents in that number one contender’s match.

Big E has held the WWE Championship since cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase on Bobby Lashley this September. He’s since had successful title defenses against Lashley, Drew McIntyre, and Austin Theory.

Rollins announced the title match during a promo on Raw. Rollins then defeated Balor on tonight’s show.

This is the first match that’s been confirmed for Day 1.
