Chad Gable apparently “sniffing around” for appearance outside of WWE

Chad Gable confronts Sami Zayn on WWE SmackDown.

Chad Gable is apparently “sniffing around” for an appearance outside of WWE. Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff revealed that Gable is potentially going to be wrestling for Real American Freestyle/RAF, the amateur wrestling promotion that Bischoff started alongside Hulk Hogan:

“I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out that Chad Gable is a phenomenal, phenomenal amateur wrestler and is kind of sniffing around Real American Freestyle, just throwing it out there. We’re talking about it. There’s some contractual issues that can kind of make that difficult [when trying to get WWE names over to RAF], but we’re having discussions and relatively serious ones. So I think it’s just a matter of time. But also, I’m not going to mention any names, but I was having a conversation not too long ago with someone we all know, and [they’re] very excited about what we’re doing at Real American Freestyle. Again, comes from a collegiate amateur wrestling background.”

Could Chad Gable be in Real American Freestyle/RAF?

Bischoff did not confirm if “we’re talking about it” included speaking to Gable in any direct form, whether it was being discussed with representatives at WWE or just within RAF’s ranks.

It’s worth noting that there have been several UFC fighters appearing on RAF shows recently, and that the Ultimate Fighting Championship has a working relationship with RAF that allows their contracted fighters to wrestle for the promotion. Considering both WWE and UFC are both under the TKO banner, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see WWE allowing Gable to branch out and get back to his amateur roots.

We’ve seen the likes of Merab Dvailishvili, Henry Cejudo, Arman Tsarukyan, Frankie Edgar and Urijah Faber all be showcased/set to appear on RAF cards, so why not some WWE representation?
