Chelsea Green introduced as the new Women’s Champion on WWE SmackDown

WWE SmackDown Chelsea Green Women's Champion

Just days after winning the Interim WWE Women’s Championship, Chelsea Green has now been introduced as the new Women’s Champion.

On the latest August 7 edition of WWE SmackDown, Joe Tessitore announced Green as the new WWE Women’s Champion. Green appeared on the latest edition of SmackDown and took part in her title win celebrations.

While the “interim” word was dropped during Green’s introduction, it is not yet clear if Green is now the official WWE Women’s Champion or not. As of now, Rhea Ripley is no longer displayed on WWE’s website as the official titleholder, although Green is still mentioned as the interim champion there.

A few weeks ago, Rhea Ripley injured herself and recently underwent surgery. Following the surgery, our Bryan Alvarez noted that there were “rumblings” that Ripley could end up vacating the title and Green could become the official champion.

Later in the night during the Aug. 7, 2026 episode of SmackDown, The Fatal Influence faced and defeated the duo of Tiffany Stratton and Green. After the bout, The Irresistible Forces attacked Green and Stratton. Nia Jax closed the segment by raising the WWE Women’s title.
