Chelsea Green reflected on her wrestling journey in a new interview.

Despite the success she’s had in WWE recently, it wasn’t always easy for the 34-year-old. Speaking to Denise Salcedo, Green opened up on her pro wrestling career and revealed that she has been “told no so many times” in her career.

Green said:

It’s so crazy, Matt (Cardona) and I were just talking about, we would have never guessed, when we first met nine, almost 10 years ago, that when I was at TNA and he was at WWE, then I would get to WWE, then he would get fired, then I would get fired, then I would get hired and he wouldn’t get hired, years later he would get hired and I would be a double champion and all my dreams would be coming true and I’d travel the world and I represent the company.”

“All these things are so crazy, but I do feel like the journey to get here was so hard, that now that I’m here, there’s not one person in this world that can say I didn’t work for it.

There’s a lot of chosen ones in wrestling, you see that happen, the machine has scooped you up and thrust you to the top,” Green continued. “It’s amazing, and some unbelievable stars come from it. But for me, my story is so different and relatable, and I didn’t get everything handed to me; I was told no so many times.

She further said, “There were a lot of people that told me there was nothing unique about me, and I figured out my niche, and I think that’s really special, and that’s what fans kind of attach to, like she is one of us.”

Following her initial run in WWE, Green was released from the promotion in 2020. However, after a wait of nearly three years, she returned at the 2023 Royal Rumble. Since then, Green has been on the rise and has won multiple championships, including becoming the inaugural WWE Women’s United States Champion in 2024.
