CM Punk cast in ‘Let’s Start a Cult’ comedy

WWE star CM Punk has booked a role in “Let’s Start a Cult,” a new comedy set to release in October.

Punk is billed as Phil Brooks in a new poster released Thursday to advertise the film. Let’s Start a Cult is produced by Dark Sky Films and will star comedian Stavros Halkias, who also co-wrote the movie.

The film will hit theaters on Friday, October 25.

Let’s Start a Cult director Ben Kitnick described the film in a MovieWeb article:

“It is a wild, absurd comedy with heart, balancing high-concept ideas with a broad comedic approach, as modern as it is a throwback. The film’s central characters are searchers, looking to quell life’s concerns by adopting a fresh belief system with like-minded outsiders. In hindsight, this really is symbolic of our experience making the film. It was a fiercely collaborative process, with cast and crew deadly serious about telling a delightfully unserious tale. I hope you have as fun of a time watching as we had making this, dare I say, ‘cult comedy.'”

Punk is one of several WWE stars in recent months to sign with the Paradigm Talent Agency, who also represent Damian Priest and Tiffany Stratton, among others.
