CM Punk names his ‘perfect’ opponent for John Cena’s final match
CM Punk has a few ideas on who will probably end up wrestling John Cena in his final match.
During a recent appearance on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams, Punk was asked who he feels would be Cena’s perfect opponent for next month’s Saturday Night’s Main Event.
“Well, perfect probably would have been me,” Punk responded.
However, regarding who is still in the Last Time is Now tournament and would be Cena’s perfect opponent, Punk said:
“I don’t know if it’s perfect but it’s looking like Gunther because I’ve been in the ring with him and I know what he can do, and I don’t know who else in that tournament can beat him right now.”
Gunther has advanced to the semifinals of the Last Time is Now tournament after defeating Je’Von Evans in the first round and Carmelo Hayes in the quarterfinals. He faces Solo Sikoa in the next round.
Earlier in the discussion, Punk described Cena as WWE’s version of Wayne Gretzky and called it a treat to watch him end his career the way he is.
“Cena is, you know, I think our Wayne Gretzky, I’ve been saying. He’s somebody who’s held it down for a very, very long time. Watching him exit with such style and grace and dignity has been a real treat.”
Punk’s comments regarding John Cena’s final opponent come in around the 3-minute and 35-second mark of the interview. It is cued up in the video below.
