CM Punk pays tribute to Dory Funk Jr. at WWE live event
CM Punk paid tribute to Dory Funk Jr. at WWE’s house show event on Thursday night in Fairfax, Virginia.
Punk and Cody Rhodes defeated Gunther and Ricky Saints in the main event of the show, which was held at EagleBank Arena and drew a reported 5,680 fans.
The finish saw Punk give Saints a GTS, but instead of going for the pin, Punk applied a spinning toe hold, a signature hold used by Funk Jr., who passed away on August 4 at the age of 85.
The move was also frequently used by Funk Jr.’s brother, Terry Funk. Punk also paid tribute to Terry Funk at WWE SummerSlam recently, attempting a crooked moonsault similar to those Terry used later in his career.
