CM Punk provides injury update after WWE SmackDown

CM Punk spoke to the crowd in Cincinnati at Friday’s WWE SmackDown taping and gave an injury update regarding his recovery from a torn triceps.

In a promo in front of the fans that did not air on television, Punk noted that while he has not fully recovered from surgery to repair a torn right triceps, that his recovery is on track and that he will be back to competition “soon.”

“I want to give a little update — my tricep[s] is not a hundred percent, yet. But I am on track and I promise, soon, I will be back and competing with all the tough badasses backstage.”

Punk suffered the torn triceps in the 2024 Royal Rumble match on January 27. The real-life injury was then used to fuel a storyline with Punk and Drew McIntyre, leading to Punk costing McIntyre the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40, then costing him the number one contendership to that title the next night on Raw.

The promo at Friday’s SmackDown taping was then interrupted by Chad Gable and the Alpha Academy.

The promo can be seen in the embedded video below.
