Cody Rhodes appearance added to WWE SmackDown

A segment with Cody Rhodes has been added to the lineup for SmackDown tonight.

The Undisputed WWE Champion is set to appear on tonight’s show from Louisville, Kentucky. After being laid out by AJ Styles last week, WWE is hyping that Rhodes “will be looking for payback” tonight.

Last Friday’s SmackDown included an angle where AJ Styles faked that he was going to announce his retirement. But it was all a ruse as part of Styles’ plan to get another shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship. Styles attacked Rhodes and gave him a Styles Clash, jumping from the steel steps and planting Rhodes on the floor.

Rhodes retained his title against Styles at Backlash last month. It’s expected that a rematch between the two will take place at Clash at the Castle on Saturday, June 15. That may be made official tonight.

The updated card for tonight’s SmackDown is listed below:

  • Cody Rhodes is out for payback against AJ Styles
  • Solo Sikoa anoints Tonga Loa as a member of The Bloodline
  • Jade Cargill vs. Indi Hartwell
  • Grayson Waller vs. Johnny Gargano
  • Apollo Crews vs. Angel Garza
