Cody Rhodes calls WWE WrestleMania 42 a potential ‘sleeper’ show
Cody Rhodes addressed what he described as some impatience among wrestling fans regarding the card for WWE WrestleMania 42 during a recent interview.
Rhodes was a guest on Barstool Sports ahead of Saturday’s WWE Elimination Chamber in Chicago. During the interview, he suggested that this year’s WrestleMania could end up being a “sleeper” show.
Rhodes said:
“It’s unpredictable this year and I know there’s a little bit of impatience and a general, ‘What are the matches?’”
“It’s a road to WrestleMania and I think what Triple H has, I think there’s a sleeper WrestleMania emerging, if that makes any sense.”
In Friday’s edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer addressed the latest updates on the WrestleMania lineup, noting there has been frustration within WWE regarding the original plans being scrapped. He wrote that Rhodes is considered a “virtual lock” to be challenging for the WWE Championship, though Jacob Fatu could still be added to the match.
“There has been frustration that the original plans were ditched and the idea of McIntyre vs. Rhodes has been questioned as a single because it’s too predictable and is what people expect, plus there already have been three major singles matches and two on PLE events in recent months,” Meltzer wrote.
