Cody Rhodes says part of his story is ‘locked behind a wall’
Cody Rhodes says a big part of his story is locked behind a wall.
During a new episode of his So What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast, Becky Lynch suggested that Rhodes should write a book. He responded that he’d love to, but said there’s an entire chapter he wouldn’t be able to include
“I would love to write a book, but an entire huge chapter is locked behind a wall. And everything I say these days when it comes to that is somehow I’m rewriting history, I’m remembering it wrong, even though the receipts are literally on social media, stop. But every time I say anything, it’s the wrong thing to say.”
“And it hurts. It hurts my heart because I’d love to tell the story. I just have to wait for somebody else to tell the story and hopefully they include me in it.”
“But it’s a very odd situation, but I would love to write a book.”
Since leaving AEW in 2022, Rhodes has mostly deflected questions about what led to his departure. During an interview with Chris Van Vliet in the summer of 2024, Rhodes said the way his time in the company ended was “terrible” and added that stories not yet known about it may eventually come to light.
“How AEW ended was terrible, really, and people are going to write books later on and these stories are going to get out there and then it’s going to be a whole new ballgame,” Rhodes said last year.
Rhodes also addressed his exit from AEW during an appearance on The Bill Simmons podcast last month.
“Feeling disrespected at something I built with my friends…that we built, feeling disrespected there…I wouldn’t stand for it,” he said.
