Cody Rhodes claims why John Cena loudly called spots in the ring
Long-time fans will know that John Cena wasn’t ever shy about calling spots in the ring. There were many, many times that he could be audibly heard telling his opponent what needed to come next, and it was never something he seemed that interested in addressing.
Speaking with Amy Poehler on Good Hang, Cody Rhodes claimed* why Cena would be so vocal in the ring and not try to cover his mouth or be quiet enough so he wasn’t heard: “John will not talk low or ‘in carny.’ John yells everything that is going to happen in the ring as loud as he can possibly yell it. He calls it, for the first four rows, an interactive experience. Screams it.“

Rhodes would also discuss his match with Cena at SummerSlam during the John Cena retirement tour:
“At SummerSlam, he’s about to slam me with the Attitude Adjustment from a table to another table. It’s highly dangerous; it’s going to hurt. We’re going to do it the safest way we can, but you can hear him yelling at me while I’m on his shoulders that he can’t see because my arm is over his eyes. I never spoke back to John, I never wanted to speak back, he’s a mentor to me, but it was one of those moments where I thought, ‘Buddy, I’m the one doing it. Just throw me.’”
*Cody is well known for enjoying a little lie here and there when he’s doing interviews (he did it to me once, it was funny), so take this with a more than a pinch of salt.
