Former Santos Escobar scheduled for San Diego Comic-Con

Former WWE wrestler Santos Escobar has now been announced for an appearance at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con.

A part of WWE from 2019 until 2026, Escobar was released earlier this year in April 2024. The release came after Escobar had injured himself while working in AAA. His last WWE match dates back to the WWE-acquired AAA event Rey de Reyes 2026.

The former Escobar, now known as Hijo del Fantasma, recently announced his upcoming free agent status on social media, shortly after which his San Diego Comic-Con appearance was announced.

“GUEST ANNONCEMENT – He has held championship gold everywhere he has been – CMLL, AAA, Lucha Underground and NXT/WWE. He is a second generation lucha legacy and as successful as he has been his future is looking even brighter as he prepares to return to the ring once he has completed filming a yet to be publicly announced feature role in what is set to be a breakout performance.

[Santos Escobar] will be making his first public appearance of the summer on Friday and Saturday from 12-2 PM at the Masked Republic & [Headlocked Comic Book] booth 1901!”

It was also announced that a “special limited edition” art print of Hijo del Fantasma by Doug Hills will be available to get signed alongside photo opportunities and other merch for fans.
