Former WWE ring announcer said he learned ‘a Hall of Famer or creative can get you cut’

Former wrestling ring announcer Greg Hamilton recently appeared for an interview with Forbes, where he reflected on his time working in WWE.

A former WWE ring announcer and now exploring a career in PFL, Hamilton is well-known across the globe for his art of announcing names and storytelling. One of the most experienced names in the industry, Hamilton recently appeared for an interview with Forbes, where he revealed his most important lessons in WWE.

Hamilton’s six-year WWE run took place under Vince McMahon, where fans might remember his over-the-top introduction for Shane McMahon following his WWE World Cup win. Addressing his WWE run, Hamilton revealed that while creative can make one a superstar, it can also get them cut.

In wrestling, man, creative can either make you a superstar and a Hall of Famer or a creative can get you cut,” said Hamilton. “I get people trying to maneuver in the world of wrestling because that’s their livelihood and creative is a big part of that. So getting over with the writers and the creative part, that’s a big deal.”

Greg Hamilton shares his thoughts on WWE’s new owners TKO

After Vince McMahon departed the promotion, WWE was acquired by TKO Group Holdings, a publicly traded company formed in 2023 through the merger of WWE and the UFC.

It’s no secret that [WWE and UFC] are going to take sponsorship money any which way they can,” Hamilton said while speaking to Forbes.

He further shared how he likes the option of making extra money, which TKO provides WWE superstars with, something that was not available under McMahon’s watch. “My point to all that is this TKO era is also allowing people to make extra money through these sponsorships and that I love for them. So that’s the upside to it. The logos and the matches stuff don’t really bother me.”
